Jardin des Plantes
Rue Mouffetard

Rue Mouffetard and the surrounding area

Explore one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Paris! From the Best Western Paris Italie, take Avenue des Gobelins, where you can visit the famous Gobelins Manufactory, and then turn on to Rue Mouffetard, which is located between the Luxembourg Gardens and Jardin des Plantes, running below the Panthéon. Suffice it to say, there are many tourist sites along the way between the Latin Quarter and the banks of the Seine River:

  • Rue Mouffetard: It is one of the oldest streets in Paris that has still kept its village quality. It is dotted with numerous restaurants, cafés, boutiques and, above all, small eateries and food stands. Every morning, (except on Mondays), Parisians head to one of the most well-known markets in the capital, located at the metro stops Place Monge and Censier-Daubenton.
  • Place de la Contrescarpe : with its café terraces and lively atmosphere, it is one of the friendliest places in Paris!
  • The Panthéon : a Parisian monument dedicated to the great men and women of France is a must-see.
  • Jardin des Plantes : here you can wander around one of the many botanical gardens, step inside the Ménagerie or the Grandes Serres…
  • National Natural History Museum
  • The Gobelins Manufactory : exhibitions and tours are organised throughout the year in this renowned tapestry factory.

The Asian Quarter

Like many other world capitals, Paris has a Chinatown. Paris' Asian quarter is located a few minutes from theBest Western Paris Italie, between Avenue de Choisy, Avenue d’Ivry and Rue Tolbiac. Its many restaurants, groceries and shops of all kinds will carry you on a voyage to the other side of the world. It's also in this neighbourhood that you can find the two most famous stores for Asian products: Tang Frères and Paris Store. You'll have your arms full of shopping bags filled with exotic flavours.

Also, each year for the Chinese New Year, the quarter is adorned with paper lanterns and dragon-filled processions make their way down the street.

Rue de la Butte aux Cailles

Butte aux Cailles

An authentic Parisian neighbourhood with calm streets, green spaces, and a village feel, Butte aux Cailles offers a unique atmosphere. On Rue des Cinq Diamants, Rue Bobillot, or in the "Petite Alsace", you can wander these small, secluded, twisting streets and stop for a drink while on an afternoon walk taking in some fresh air.

You also have the chance to walk through the nearby Boulevard Auguste Blanqui market, which is held every Tuesday and Friday from 7 AM to 2:30 PM as well as on Sundays from 7 AM to 3 PM.

Banks of the Seine River and Bercy

Not far from the hotel, you can go for a stroll along the banks of the Seine. The Best Western Paris Italie is situated not far from the Tolbiac site of the National Library of France (BNF), the The City of Fashion and Design and the Art Ludique Museum. And if you want to take in some contemporary art, visit les Frigos: some 200 artists and artisans have studios there where they work and present their creations.

Just across the Seine River is the Palais Omnisport de Paris Bercy, which became Bercy Arena in 2015. It has a year-round programme full of major events: tennis tournaments, concerts, shows, sports competitions, etc.
